Description
Born as the last, unwanted girl-child, of the discarded first wife of the chief in a remote African village, Nzilani grew to be a highly educated global ambassador, sharing God’s love with the world. Her story reveals how she faced obstacles of culture, poverty, status, and circumstance. And how sacrifice, faith, determination, hard work, and forgiveness led her to find and fulfill God’s promise.
Village Life
Well, it’s lunchtime and I look up to my mother with the expectation that there will be some leftovers from last night that she saved for my lunch. Fighting tears, she says “We don’t have anything for lunch today, but we will have food in the evening.” I believed every word she told me, so I knew if I could make it to the evening there will be food on the table. … during mango season I did not need lunch.
Painful Choices
Coming back from the airport that night, the first thing I noticed as I entered the house was that Wesley’s shoes were missing… I opened his wardrobe; it was empty except for a few shirts that he had left to give away. Oh, that was such a hard time for me. I cried but I never regretted the decision of sending Wesley away. That was the best for him.
Answering God’s Call
Now this village girl was on another journey that she would never have imagined. Jeremiah 1:5 was being fulfilled. The God who had formed me in my mother's womb was indeed sending me to be a messenger to the nations.

This is a heartfelt story of a young girl overcoming the life she was born to, and becoming the woman God called her to be. It is difficult to comprehend that women today still must fight to survive and overcome cultural norms. May we all be inspired to fight for the lives and the future of women everywhere.

Terrific read! A real page turner written with authenticity. Such a transparent glimpse into the sad life of a Kenyan family, and a little girl whom God raised up from the ashes of ugly selfishness to display his brilliant glory and redemption. Thank you, Pauline, for honestly sharing your story, God’s glory, and continuing to live out trust in a faithful, trustworthy Lord. Shine on! Daniel 12.3!

A series of miraculous events!
I’ve been sitting here for the past 15 breathless minutes, genuinely trying to think of a better way to begin this review, but I’m at a loss. I’m at a loss for words for a proper introduction to this True Story. It is a thought-provoking book that demonstrates how God is not limited by our circumstances.

The title of the book is what my attention. I cannot imagine how challenging it was for Nzilani as a child, but I can imagine the joy and fulfilment she had re-living the memories as she penned this extremely powerful and inspiring story that is packed with emotions. Her 1st memoir, Nzilani did it with a finesse only a talented author could possibly do.
Her story affirms Ben Carson’s quote “It does not matter where we come from or what we look like. If we recognize our abilities, are willing to learn and to use what we know in helping others, we will always have a place in the world.” Finding her father’s love is very well and gently written, allowing readers to live in that moment, to get the experience of the journey walked by this young girl in a remote part of Kenya in Africa.
These words from- Nzilani: Finding her Father’s Love -are deep and beautifully written “The baby girl was determined to come, and Mary never made it to her matrimonial home. I do not know if there were clothes to cover the baby, but I do know that the baby was safely delivered. She should have been called shame or another name depicting an unwanted child and her arrival should have brought shame to Mary. Conversely, this unwanted child brought joy and gave Mary a reason to live”. They sum up the book about cultural obstacles, poverty, and circumstance and how sacrifice, faith, hard work and forgiveness can make what the enemy intended for destruction to good (Gen 50.20).
The story of Nzilani reminds me of the birth of Jesus and how that love continues to transform the world. The story of her childhood may not depict the amazing woman she has turned into. I am still awed by what God has done and continues to do this young beautiful African girl! I enjoyed reading the book from start to finish. A good buy for me and my children.

As someone who doesn’t know what a father’s love is (since I’ve lost him when I was 6 years old), but has tasted this love in the Lord Christ, I can say that I could feel your story very well. The story touched my heart. I was able to be witnessed God’s power once again through the miracles He has done in your life. May all hopeless girls find hope and joy in the Lord. Glory be to the Lord!
